Jurgen Klopp went with Divock Origi up top tonight against Borussia Dortmund, leaving fully fit Daniel Sturridge on the bench – alongside Roberto Firmino who wasn’t deemed healthy enough to start either.
Most Liverpool fans were pleased with the young Belgian’s selection, as he’ll provide more running and work-rate against a side expected to have plenty of the ball.
Sturridge and Firmino provide sublime bench options, and if we can keep it tight, they could still play a huge role in the second-half…
Here’s the best of the reaction:
Origi then. Cool. Worse case scenario having Firmino and Sturridge as options off the bench bodes well. #LFC #BVB

Sturridge must be fuming but it’s not about him tonight. Klopp has made his call for the sake of the team. Good luck Origi #LFC

Sturridge *DROPPED.
*Not starting due to tactical reasons that’ll become abundantly clear from the start.
Defo dropped though.

Great starting XI. Bring Firmino on at half time and Sturridge needs to sort his attitude out ASAP. He’s not ‘Mr LFC’.

Big call by Klopp to drop Sturridge and start Origi but it makes sense. Origi’s work rate will be important tonight.

Sturridge and Firmino on the bench. Hope Klopp knows what he’s doing and the tie isn’t over after 45 mins like what happened with Spurs
