Kolo speaks out on Mamadou Sakho drugs test

Kolo Toure is no stranger to drugs test controversies. He was banned for six months in 2011 when still at Man City after he took some of his wife’s diet pills.

He has now spoken about the Sakho situation, unsurprisingly giving the Frenchman his full support.

“I don’t want to remember [my own ban] because it has been tough for me,” he said. “I don’t even want to talk about that because it is very hard.

“To be honest we spoke to the club and the club has released the information about [Sakho’s test].

“Right now I haven’t spoken with Mama to be honest. I’ve been in there and it has been really difficult, definitely.

“This is private. He knows what I think about him.” (via Echo)

Kolo also said he was ready to step up if he was called upon on Thursday night against Villarreal:

“If they call me up of course I will be really happy,” he said.

“I think I did some good things (against Newcastle). I need to recover and I’ll be ready mentally.

“Martin Skrtel is there as well and Lucas can play at the back too. It is up to the manager. For me, the most important thing is the club, the team. It is going to be a big two games and you need to do your best for the club.”
