Rossiter deal confirmed – Liverpool to receive meagre transfer fee

We spoke about this story a few days ago when it was just a rumour, but sadly it’s now been confirmed by the ever-reliable Liverpool Echo.

Jordan Rossiter – England youth star and a man once tipped to be the next Gerrard – will leave the club this summer. Scottish side Glasgow Rangers is his destination.

The 19-year-old Academy graduate’s contract ends this summer, and no new deal has been forthcoming from the club. In a similar situation to that which we faced with the Danny Ings deal, we were owed compensation by Rangers due to his tender age.

It is thought we would have asked for a tribunal if Rossiter had wanted to sign for another English club, however under FIFA rules he can join a club outside of England for just £250,000.

Of course, in some ways it is a blow to lose Rossiter. He was born and bred in Liverpool and has been part of the club since he was just 6-years-old.

That said, Rossiter has only played once under Klopp (against Sion), and has endured an injury-hit campaign.
