Forbes announce football rich list: £1.07 billion Liverpool more valuable than Juventus & PSG

Posted by

Forbes has published its annual football rich list, and Sky Sports have deconstructed it for us to pull out the essential information.

Liverpool are the eighth most valuable club in the world, but are still behind four other English sides, including ‘new money‘ Chelsea and Manchester City.

Real Madrid lead Barcelona at the top, but Bayern Munich are the only other non Premier League side above us – effectively the three best teams on the planet.

The figures are impressive considering we’re the only club in the top eight who’ve been consistently out of the Champions League for the past six years.

Our worldwide fanbase is enormous, and hopefully with future Champions League football under Jurgen Klop and the new Main Stand increasing Match Day revenue, our position as a footballing super power will be secure.

There’s no reason why we can’t usurp Chelsea and City in this list, and perhaps Arsenal too. After all, our global fanbase is bigger – so it’s about achieving on the pitch and maximising our commercial revenue streams simultaneously.

Here’s the Top 10 as it stands:

Forbes’ top 10 world’s most valuable football teams:

1 Real Madrid – US$3.645 bn (£2.52billion)

2 Barcelona – $3.549bn (£2.46bn)

3 Manchester United – $3.317bn (£2.3bn)

4 Bayern Munich – $2.678bn (£1.85bn)

5 Arsenal – $2.017bn (£1.4bn)

6 Manchester City – $1.921bn (£1.33bn)

7 Chelsea – $1.661bn (£1.15bn)

8 Liverpool – $1.548bn (£1.07bn)

9 Juventus – $1.299bn (£900million)

10 Tottenham – $1.017bn (£704m)
