Liverpool lost 3-1 to Sevilla last night in the Europa League Final to make it two losses from two finals in the seven months Jurgen Klopp’s been in charge.
A decent first-half performance will be forgotten because of the second-half shambles, which was one of the strangest, poorest 45 minutes we’ve produced all season.
Some of the Twitter reaction was outrageous and hyperbolic, but we think these tweets are just about fair in regards to the starting XI:
GK) Simon Mignolet
Mignolet was okay yesterday. He wasn’t at fault for any of the goals and even pulled a top stop against Gamiero

DR) Nathaniel Clyne
Tbf, people who claimed Darmian was better than Clyne are almost as embarrassing as those who thought Moreno > Shaw

DL) Alberto Moreno
Everyone uses the young excuse to protect players like Moreno but sometimes you have to see past the age. He can’t do the basics of his job.

DC) Dejan Lovren
Lovren. Poor. So poor. Kolo keeps saving him.
— Muhammad Nu’aim (@aim_twt) May 18, 2016
DC) Kolo Toure
Kolo is a real hero. Top pro. Oldest player on that pitch and he put the most work in. Puts the others to shame.

MC) Emre Can
Emre Can in tears. Heartbreaking to see. It means so much to all of us, imagine actually being part of the game.

MC) James Milner
@SimonGleave ..they used their movement to get a spatial advantage & their incisive vertical passing/dribbles to bypass a CAM, Can & Milner.
— Tabish A. (@TubbsSnow) May 18, 2016
AMR) Adam Lallana
@lfc_ynwa96 yeah that was odd, that. Thought he was about to pull up injured. Lallana was good first half, not so much in the second.

AML) Coutinho
#LFC Big fan of Coutinho….but went missing…and couldn’t change the game. Been in and out all season.
— Old git Victor (@OldGit_Victor) May 19, 2016
AMC) Roberto Firmino
We struggled to get Firmino and Coutinho into the play.

FC) Daniel Sturridge
Klopp himself didn’t have the best night. Sturridge worldly masked a lot of our poor play & Banega was killing us. Poor night from everyone
