Skrtel exit inches closer – two Turkish clubs confirm interest

Posted by

Martin Skrtel’s days at Anfield appear to be becoming increasingly numbered, with the Echo reporting tonight that two Turkish clubs have expressed a firm interest in his signature.

The 31-year-old, who has been at Anfield for eight seasons, is wanted by both champions Besiktas and another unnamed side.

The Slovakian only started four matches after the Christmas period, despite playing 23 times in the first half of the season. He was an unused substitute in both the League Cup and Europa League finals

His exit is still not totally confirmed, with Liverpool waiting for the results of the Mamadou Sakho drugs case to be published before they make any decisions about the defence.

Joel Matip has already been grabbed on a free transfer from Schalke, and with Joe Gomez also set to return we are starting to seem like a much better defensive unit than we were six months ago.
