Coutinho talks PSG interest; comments might worry Liverpool fans…

Posted by

Coutinho has batted away questions about PSG’s rumoured offer, when Liverpool fans would have felt much more assured if he’d just pledged his future to us.

According to reports yesterday, the French had submitted an opening £23m offer which was rejected instantly, but our genius playmaker isn’t sure this is the case.

“As far as I know, there’s no offer,” he told Goal. “I’m here with the national team, this subject is for my representatives.

“More important for me is to be here, focused on the national team and having a good tournament. That’s where my head is.”

It would have been nice for Coutinho to put the stories to bed, but following his spellbinding hat-trick in the Copa America last night, interest is only going to grow.

The 23-year-old scored three versus Haiti, including two long-range stunners, and the football world has paid attention.

Barcelona are also eyeing up a potential deal, but it’s imperative Liverpool hold on to our best player.

Annoyingly, he’s away on international duty, where he’ll have various voices in his ear. Dani Alves has already encouraged him to leave Liverpool, while the likes of Lucas Moura and Marquinhos are in the Brazil squad and play for PSG.

Of course, the quotes could be interpreted as a simple refusal to discuss club matters while away with El Selecao at a major tournament – and we’d hope Coutinho – whose conduct off the pitch has always been so impressive, will not start touting himself around like Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling did previously.
