With Euro 2016 now only hours away, football fanatics are now focussing their attention on earning a little bit of extra money at the bookmakers during the tournament.
Whilst some punters like to take a logical approach when having a flutter, others decide to bet a little bit closer to home, by having a punt on their country, or something in relation to their favourite club side, these bets can also be made across all the best betting apps.
With that in mind, we have decided to focus our attention on some potential Liverpool bets which can be made during the tournament in France this summer.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have 12 players at Euro 2016, with five belonging to Roy Hodgson’s England squad, whilst the Reds also boast representatives from Belgium, Germany, Wales and Slovakia
No Liverpool Goalscorer
Whilst Liverpool can indeed boast having more players at Euro 2016 than Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, only a few are likely to start for their respected countries.
One interesting bet to take a look at is backing no Liverpool player to score in France. With the uncertainties surrounding player minutes, this could be worth a punt, and you can get 10/1 with Sky Bet on there being no Liverpool scorer at Euro 2016.
Top Liverpool Goalscorer
An obvious thought is to back one of the strikers, with Christian Benteke favourite at 7/2 with Sky Bet. Daniel Sturridge follows at 6/1, whilst Belgium’s Divock Origi is 8/1 to net the most, though it’s not easy to predict how many minutes these strikers will get at the tournament.
The only two players guaranteed to start, are Slovakia captain Martin Skrtel, who you can back at 7/1 with Sky Bet to be the Reds’ top goalscorer in France, and midfielder Joe Allen who is currently at 12/1 with the same bookmaker.
Other top goalscorer bets include, Adam Lallana at 7/1,and Emre Can at 8/1.
First England player carded
A peculiar but rather popular bet is to predict which England player is likely to pick up the first yellow card at the tournament. Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and James Milner are both priced 16/1 with Sky Bet to be the first of Roy Hodgson’s men in the book in France, and with the latter tipped to start against Russia, it seems like it could be a punt worth taking.
Nathaniel Clyne to start against Russia
Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne was a shoe in to start in France over the last few months, but the recent upsurge in form of Kyle Walker, has left the 25-year- old in real danger of losing his place in the starting XI. The Reds defender is now 3/1 with Paddy Power to start against Russia on Saturday, so you must hope that Roy has as much faith in the full-back as you do.
