Martin Skrtel threatens to kick injury-prone Daniel Sturridge in LFC civil war at Euro 2016

I’m cutting up my 2008-09 Skrtel shirt and melting my little brother’s Skrtel Powerpodz figure if the big Slovakian follows through on this!

Martin Skrtel, despite no longer being worthy of a place in our team, is still held in very high esteem by us Liverpool fans.

But he will be disowned if he breaks Daniel Sturridge in Saint-Etienne on Monday night!

Skrtel, who is close to securing a transfer away from Anfield this summer, will line up for Slovakia against England in France.

With both sides very much in the competition, Skrtel has admitted that his friendships with the English Liverpool lads will be put on hold.

He even said he will kick injury-prone Sturridge if he has to.

The 31-year-old hardman told reporters: “It’s not a normal situation but we’re professionals and this is part of the job.

“I know them, and they know me, though there’s more to the match than just that.

“In a game like this there are no such things as ‘friends’. You can be friends before or after the match but not out on the pitch where everyone will be giving his all for his team and doing his best to win the game. If you asked Daniel he’d answer the same. We just try and do the best we can for our team. If that means having to kick him if he is through on goal, then yes. Of course I will.”

Don’t you dare, Martin!
