Martin Skrtel has become a surprise target for Italian giants Inter Milan as he continues to plot the next move in his career.

According to the player’s agent, Karol Csonto, the Milan club are keen on a deal.

“Soon we will know something more, I think in a few days,” he said (via Express and Daily Star)

“There are several teams interested, including Inter, which is certainly a distinct possibility.

“Martin, he is a great player. Mancini? Let’s talk about a great coach, but as I said there is to wait. Not much yet, but one has to wait.”

Skrtel was arguably the best player on the pitch as his Slovakia side drew 0-0 with England in the final Group B game on Monday. Cynical fans have said Skrtel was trying to put himself in the shop window, but ultimately there was always going to be strong interest in a player who’s been a major part of our club for more than eight years.

Slovakia have qualified for the last 16 as one of the best third-place sides.
