Liverpool transfer news: New Premier League suitor emerges for Reds striker

Posted by

Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing Liverpool striker Christian Benteke this summer.

The £32.5m buy from Aston Villa – fee reported by the Daily Star – struggled in his debut season at Anfield, scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances and failing to adopt to Jurgen Klopp’s playing style.

It is expected that we will cut our losses on the Belgium international if we can find a club to take him off our hands at a decent price, and it seems that a new suitor has emerged from within the Premier League.

According to the Daily Star, Crystal Palace are interested in the 25-year-old powerhouse as part of an ambitious recruitment drive, with Saido Berahino and Andros Townsend also being targeted.

The Eagles are in desperate need of a more prolific forward because Dwight Gayle, Connor Wickham, Emmanuel Adebayor and Fraizer Campbell managed just nine league goals between them last term.

Although his chances of playing would obviously be much improved at Selhurst Park, Benteke may have aspirations to find a bigger move and therefore we do not see him ending up at Palace.
