It looks like we won’t be signing exciting Barcelona winger, Cristian Tello.

According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport (cited on Daily Express), the 24-year-old has rejected Klopp’s overtures, instead preferring to remain in Italy with Fiorentina – the same club where he spent last season on loan.

Tello began his career with Espanyol in 2010 before moving to their cross-city rivals Barcelona later that year. He endured a stop/start time at the Nou Camp, making just 59 starts in four years in Spain.

In 2014 he moved to Portuguese giants Porto on loan – a move which reignited his career and once again established him as one of Europe’s brightest young talents.

37 games and six goals later, he was on the move again, this time to Serie A. He linked up with Fiorentina in January, going on to score twice in 15 matches for the club.

Despite his reputation, his goals-to-games ratio isn’t that great, even for a winger. You’d also have to question where Tello would fit into Klopp’s side with the arrival of Mane. Perhaps we’ve dodged a bullet?
