Our wait for the potential arrival of Polish international Piotr Zielinski goes on. Fans have been expecting news for several weeks, but there has largely been radio silence from both the player and his club.

According to TalkSport, that’s because we’ve become embroiled in a bitter bidding war with Serie A giants AC Milan and Napoli, both of whom have decided to enter the race for midfielder’s signature.

TalkSport claim we made a bid of around £11 million earlier this month, but his club Empoli want more money.

That’s opened the door for the two Italian sides to make their move – though it’s not clear how much they are willing to pay.

We’ve reportedly been keen on the 22-year-old since he played for boyhood club Orzeł Ząbkowice Śląskie, but we let him slip through our fingers when he joined Udinese five years ago.
