Liverpool and Juventus battling for in-demand goalkeeper (Rumour)

Ourselves and Juventus are set to go head-to-head in a bid to secure the signature of Lazio keeper, Federico Marchetti.

The news was reported on Gazzetta World – the English language sister of famous Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The article claims that despite only recently signing a new deal with his club, a deal could happen this summer – though Lazio president Claudio Lotito would demand a significant fee.

Marchetti is currently with Italy at Euro 2016 and will be on the bench as the face Germany in Saturday’s quarter-final.

We’re not sure how true this rumour is. If it happened, it would almost certainly spell the end of Simon Mignolet’s career.

Mignolet is unlikely to want to spend a season the bench, but it seems more likely that we’d loan him out with an option to recall him.

Would Klopp really go for a 33-year-old Italian – who is still playing regularly – as his back up to Karius? We doubt it.
