Liverpool have official £11.7m for Euro 2016 midfielder rejected

Liverpool’s bid of £11.7m for Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski has been rejected, reports the BBC.

The 22-year-old has just finished participating in Euro 2016 with Poland, with his country losing to Portugal in the quarters, although he barely featured.

Zielinski has impressed for Empoli over the past two years for Empoli, for who he’s played for on loan since 2014.

Jurgen Klopp has made the midfielder one of his primary summer targets, having already acquired Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic and Loris Karius so far.

Joe Allen has excelled at this summer’s Euros, and is looking forward to a semi-final with Wales in the coming week. His contract expires at the end of the year, however, and as of yet; no new deal has been offered.

Zielinski has made his thoughts clear on a potential move, and would jump at the chance of a Merseyside switch – despite the attention of AC Milan and Napoli.

Here at EOTK, we’re pretty fond of Allen, and believe he has the ability to stay at Liverpool if he’s installed with confidence and given the licence to control tempo in midfield.

If the Pole eventually arrives though, we’ll obviously back him, but reckon in Allen – we’ve already got a superior central midfielder.
