Liverpool and Leicester City remain miles apart in the ongoing negotiations for left-back, Ben Chilwell.

The 19-year-old Englishman has been identified by Klopp as a top summer target as he looks to increase the pressure on the hit-and-miss Alberto Moreno.

We made a bid of £7 million a couple of weeks ago which was subsequently rejected – with Leicester reportedly holding out for at least £10 million (via Echo).

Goal.com have now said we are still a long way apart in our negotiations. Our current best offer stands at £7 million plus £2 million in add-ons, the Foxes want £10 million up front.

Chilwell only has 12 months left on his current deal, which theoretically puts us at an advantage – though Leicester know we are desperate to secure some cover at full-back, hence their hardball tactics.

We are thought to be looking at other options – including Hull’s Andy Robertson – in case Leicester don’t budge.
