Crystal Palace are set to come back to Liverpool with a new bid of £31.5 million for the out of favour Christian Benteke.

According to the Echo, the bid will be £27 million up front with a further £4.5 million in add-ons.

After rejecting a bid of £25 million last week, surely we would be mad to reject this latest bid? After signing him for £32.5 million 12 months ago, Palace’s new bid represents a loss of just £1 million on a player who only started three league games in 2016.

It’s a truly remarkable offer.

The Echo also report that Benteke is keen on moving to Selhurst Park despite Palace not being the most glamorous name in the league, so personal terms should not be an issue.

They suggest an agreement is likely and we can expect further news in the coming days.

Does this mean we’ll still need to buy another striker this summer? Let us know what you think…
