Sampdoria have emerged as a potential suitor of troublesome Italian striker, Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli, who has scored just two league goals in the last two seasons combined , was close to joining AC Milan but they ultimately decided not to sign him.

Since the Milan rumours died away, there has been precious little in terms of transfer news – just last week it was reported in the Express that no clubs were interested in a deal.

Now, however, it looks like Sampdoria are keen following comments by their president, Massimo Ferrero.

“Balotelli? He’s like (Antonio) Cassano,” he said.

“Balotelli is the enemy of Balotelli, just as Cassano is also an enemy for himself.

“He could also start for a team full of passion like ours, but I think he’s a bit confused. I tried to tell him to come and play for us, he is a great talent.” (via Calciomercato).

Let’s hope the rumours are true – although some fans on social media are calling for Balotelli to be given another chance, personally we think it’s more trouble than it’s worth. In Ings, Origi, and Sturridge we have three committed forwards; it’s been too long since Mario showed enough passion to fit in under Klopp.
