Wales’ incredible run in the European Championships is over after Portugal emerged as 2-0 winners in their semi-final on Wednesday night.

Two goals in three minutes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani at the start of the second half were enough to overcome Coleman’s men, who badly missed the talents of Arsenal’s suspended Aaron Ramsey in their midfield.

Portugal will now play either France or Germany in Sunday’s final in Paris.

The disappointment was hard to take for Wales and their fans, but they can hold their heads high after an incredible tournament that saw them vastly outperform expectations. They are certain to receive a hero’s welcome when they return to Cardiff later this week.

They can be supremely confident about what the future may hold, and will surely be confident of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Their qualifying campaign kicks off on 5th September with a home game against Moldova.
