Mamadou Sakho has finished his hearing with UEFA in Paris and now faces an anxious wait to discover his fate.
According to the Echo, UEFA have promised that a ruling will be made “within days”.
(Where have we heard that before?!)
There are three possible outcomes to the situation:
- Sakho is found not guilty.
- Sakho is found guilty but UEFA accept that missing the last eight games of the season, the Europa League final and semi-final, and the Euros was sufficient punishment
- Sakho is found guilty and given a further ban.
Of course, if he’s found guilty, Sakho will have the right to appeal – and could even take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Nonetheless, the Frenchman and his lawyers are all confident of securing his innocence.
Only time will tell whether their hopes come to fruition…
