Liverpool appoint new head physio, as Klopp’s backroom revolution continues

Liverpool have already lined up Andreas Kornmayer and Mona Nemmer as fitness and nutritionist specialists ahead of the new campaign, and today, the Echo confirmed we’ve named Andy Renshaw as head physio.

Renshaw had been the head physio for Michael Beale’s Under-21 side, but has been given a promotion by Jurgen Klopp. Because of Renshaw’s move from Kirkby to the Academy, there’s now an open position for someone to take up his role with the youngsters.

The Echo claim that Renshaw’s been with us for seven years having previously worked as a physio and sports scientist at Bolton.

The Englishman has stepped up due to Chris Morgan leaving last month after 11 successful years at the helm. Morgan was rated highly by players such as Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson, and it’s now up to the new man to reach the heights his predecessor managed.

Last term, injuries blighted our campaign, and it’s up to the new backroom team to establish very high base levels of squad fitness during pre-season that will limit the health issues that affected us in 2015/16.
