Liverpool will have to pay £52m for totally unrealistic reported target

We suppose if Liverpool are signing Alex Manninger, anything is possible in the transfer market – but sadly think a move for Julian Draxler this summer is highly, highly unlikely.

The Wolfsburg attacker, who would command a £52m price-tag, starred at Euro 2016 with Germany and enjoyed a promising end to last season, and is interesting major English clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United reports the Express – noted in the Echo‘s transfer roundup.

“It is clear that Wolfsburg is not the end of his dreams – neither was Schalke,” sporting director Klaus Allofs told Sport Bild – admitting that one day the playmaker will depart.

“There are clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or one or other club from England.”

However, if we’re not in for Mario Gotze, as was confirmed by the Echo two days ago, there would be no reason for us to pursue a fellow attacking midfielder who would cost double. We signed Sadio Mane this summer for £30m, and with the likes of Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and Sheyi Ojo all providing competition for spots, we’re more than covered in this area.

We’re likely to be without Jordon Ibe next term though, with Liverpool accepting a £15m offer for the young winger from Bournemouth last week.
