Well folks, it’s nearly finished.
Fans old enough to remember the mid-1990s will recall Rick Parry and David Moores talking about either building a new stadium or dramatically increasing the capacity of Anfield as our rivals Man Utd added more and more seats at an alarming rate.
Younger fans might recall the Hicks and Gillet era and more broken promises.
Now, more than 20 years after we first discussed the idea as a club, here we are. The new Main Stand is almost finished. The 10,000 seat increase might be modest, but it’s a huge step in the right direction. Full credit must go to John Henry and FSG.
The finishing touches are slowly being added – the latest of which is a giant the club crest affixed to the exterior wall.
