Dejan Lovren has been speaking about last season’s Europa League final loss to Sevilla.

After a stunning run to the final, which included famous wins over Man Utd, Dortmund, and Villarreal, we suffered heartache as we went down 3-1 to the Spaniards.

Lovren, however, is determined to use the experience as motivation:

“It would have been much better if we could have finished the season with a win in the final. I still regret it,” he said.

“we didn’t play 100 per cent in the game. Two or three games before, we did the same with all our heart and won against the big teams.

“It’s definitely a disappointment for all of us – for us and the fans.

“I hope we will have other finals in our career”. (via official site)

He also spoke out about Klopp’s gruelling pre-season demands. There were stories earlier in the summer that our boss would be demanding triple training sessions (via ESPN), and the Croatian admits he’s feeling “a bit tired”.

“I am ready to start the engine again,” he vowed.

“I’m feeling a little bit tired at the beginning [of pre-season], which is normal after a break. But it’s a good point to be here again and working hard.

“We didn’t have two days off in the middle of [last] season because we had a game every three or four days and we had a lot of injured players, so you couldn’t change some players that you needed to change.”

“It was quite tough.”

Our pre-season friendlies continue on Sunday when we travel to local North West-based side Wigan. We then face Huddersfield next Wednesday before jetting off to the United States for the start of the oft-derided International Champions Cup.
