Coutinho expected to feature as Liverpool face Wigan

We’re yet to see Philippe Coutinho in pre-season, as the Brazilian international only returned to training on Monday. He looks to be in line for some game time this weekend though, with the talented No.10 tipped to play a part against Wigan on Sunday (via the Echo).

Although available, Coutinho didn’t make an appearance against Fleetwood Town on Wednesday. He clearly wasn’t match ready or fully rested in Jurgen Klopp’s eyes, and was therefore given a little more time.

He’s now had a full week of training with the team though, and we should get at least a glimpse of him this Sunday; hopefully it will be more than that. The Echo suggest he is likely to play for 45 minutes, and with Klopp’s tendency in pre-season so far to play two different teams in each half that makes sense.

We’re also likely to get another look at the new signings, with the report suggesting that Loris Karius, Sadio Mane, and Marko Grujic are all set to feature. Grujic was particularly impressive against Fleetwood, and while we obviously need to see how he stands up to tougher opposition, he already looks a superb signing.
