Loris Karius almost made a costly (at least as costly as you can get in a pre-season friendly) error in our 2-0 win over Wigan this past Sunday afternoon, losing his concentration and almost gifting the Latics a goal.
The German shot-stopper had barely been called upon at all throughout the game, but when he did receive a pass back from one of his defenders he took his eye off the ball and completely missed it.

Thankfully he managed to dive in and keep the ball out of the back of the net, but it was certainly a scary moment for both the keeper and the fans.
We were hoping for a slightly less mistake-ridden keeper in Karius, as our previous keepers have certainly had a moment of madness or two in them. The 23-year-old definitely looks like a great keeper, but he needs to learn to keep sharp even when he has little to do for much of the game.
Liverpool transfer news
He’s obviously only just arrived and we aren’t going to judge him on one or two games and especially one or two mistakes, but we certainly need him to keep that kind of thing out of his game when it comes to the Premier League.
