Newcastle United are prepared to consider a cash-plus-player offer for their Dutch international, Georginio Wijnaldum.

It is thought the North East club value their star at around £25 million, but according to the Mail, they would be prepared to accept one of our players in exchange for a cash discount.

It is not clear which players Klopp might consider offloading to get the deal over the line. The players who are regularly linked with an Anfield exit – such as Benteke, Balotelli, Markovic, and Allen – would almost certainly not accept a drop down to the Championship.

Perhaps a season-long loan for Jon Flanagan might appease them? The young full-back, despite being much loved, desperately needs a whole season of regular first-team football to get his career back on track. We’d also put Kevin Stewart and Brad Smith on the list of possibilities.

The Mail article goes on to say that Spurs were interested in the 25-year-old, but considered £25 million to be too much money for player who will be 26 in November. Will the news that Newcastle would consider a part exchange reignite their interest? Let us know your thoughts.
