Liverpool’s skipper Jordan Henderson is focussing on the coming season and has taken to Instagram to suggest his struggles in 2015/16 were solely down to his injuries.
There have been suggestions, such as here via EPSN, that with Jurgen Klopp signing Marko Grujic and potentially Georginio Wijnaldum (via Telegraph), there may not be room for Henderson this coming campaign.
But the captain’s timely social media post hints that he’s ready to fight for a first-team starting role…
At his best, Henderson provides a dynamic, battling presence in the middle and can provide defensive cover and offensive creativity, but he failed to consistently deliver either last term.
A full pre-season will maximise his chances of re-finding his best form from 2013/14, but that was two full seasons ago and it’s time for the 26-year-old to show his manager and the fans why he was made Liverpool captain in the first place.
