Liverpool are reportedly close to accepting a bid from Stoke City for Welsh midfielder, Joe Allen.

The Telegraph’s journalist John Percy was the first to break the story via Twitter:

SkySports and The Telegraph newspaper are also both now reporting the news.

The Telegraph claim we rejected their opening offer of £13 million, demanding £1 million more – however, a compromise has now been reached.

Stoke want to conclude the deal in the next 48 hours.

The Welshman enjoyed a stunning European Championships and was named in the team of the tournament, but he is now in the last 12 months of his contract which is why the valuation appears to be some way below his actual worth.

The departure of Allen suggests we might see some more news regarding either Piotr Zielinski or Gini Wijnaldum in the coming days.
