We have reportedly agreed to sell Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva to Galatasaray for £2 million.

According to Turkish website Sporx, the offer was made by board member Levent Nazifoglu on Wednesday afternoon.

We’re not particular convinced on the veracity of this rumour – but it certainly does seem to be a case of ‘no smoke without fire’.

There have been constant rumblings all summer about Lucas’ future; earlier this week it was thought he might be heading to Newcastle as part of the Gini Wijnaldum deal, but that now seems to be dead.

There were also whisperings that he might go to Galatasaray on loan, but we think that’s unlikely.

Either way, it looks like his Anfield career could be drawing to a close. He is behind Henderson, Can, Grujic, Wijnaldum, and possibly Milner in the race for a midfield berth, and since the arrival of Ragnar Klavan, his game time at centre-back also looks to be limited.
