Philippe Coutinho is hopeful of adding more goals to his game in the upcoming Premier League season.

The 24-year-old Brazilian found the back of the net eight times in the league last season, and bagged three further goals in the various cup competitions.

“You always have to improve – that’s my mentality. If I could score more goals and create more chances it would be nice,” he said (via Echo).

“I am confident for this season. I think everyone feels confident. Last season we had some opportunities but couldn’t take them.

“That has made us stronger and now we are hungry to win titles and to be able to fight.”

He is also adamant that Klopp’s new additions will have a positive impact on our 2016/17 prospects:

“I am looking forward to playing with them,” Coutinho said.

“They’re both very good players and fast players so maybe you can pass a long ball and they’ll arrive to it.

“I hope we can all do a good job together this year. There are a lot of players now and there is good competition in the squad which helps you to get better.”

What would be consider a ‘good’ return for Phil this season? Surely we’d have to expect a player of his quality to get into double figures in the league? It’s something he’s failed to do since he arrived from Inter Milan in January 2013.
