Jamie Carragher set for interesting new Sky Sports role…

Our legendary former centre-back Jamie Carragher has been a brilliant addition to Sky Sports, in our opinion.

His relationship with Gary Neville on Monday Night Football before the latter ventured into management was a great watch, and his no-nonsense analysis during match-days is simply excellent, too.

In fact, watching him makes you wonder why he’s not using his expertise in a role at Liverpool, but for now, he remains in the media.

But Carra is determined to keep pushing himself, and will work next term as a co-commentator for some matches.

“It’s something he wants to do (be a co-commentator),” Sky Sports Head of Football Gary Hughes told Joe. “It will be good for him to do it on a Liverpool game. Jamie’s brave, he’s got strong opinions and he wants to try new things.”

Carra’s first game behind the mic is Burnley v Liverpool on August 20, but sadly, will only be available to those in Ireland.

Commentators for major networks naturally need to be unbiased and offer critical, fair analysis – and we’d be intrigued to see how Carragher manages this!

He’s smart, tactically knowledgeable and probably knows more about football than nearly anyone in the game. What’s more – the more we hear Scouse on the tele, the better!
