Liverpool boss makes surprising Sheyi Ojo comments

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is unsure over whether to loan out prodigal winger Sheyi Ojo this coming season.

The teenager performed admirably in our latest pre-season fixture, the 2-0 victory versus AC Milan, assisting Roberto Firmino’s goal after a lung-busting sprint down the right flank.

He’d previously been with England Under-19s at the Euros, but joined up with the squad in America following his country’s semi-final defeat.

As a result, Liverpool fans assumed Ojo would be a part of the first-team squad this term, but Klopp is still deciding whether to sanction a loan deal to a Championship side.

“I don’t know. We will have to see,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“Sheyi is a wonderful player that’s for sure and his future is 100 per cent at Liverpool. We don’t have to make decisions so early.

“We have time and we have to use the time. We have had some injuries. We need to make the boys as fit as possible.

“Ojo has only been with us for five days after coming from the tournament with England Under-19s.”

Ojo is the only left-footed attacking midfielder we have at our disposal, and for this reason, we’d like to see him stay. It will be a fight for game-time with the likes of Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana competing for positions, but with Liverpool’s luck with injuries, we’re sure the starlet would get opportunities to impress.

Last season, Ojo made 11 appearances in total, scoring one goal in the FA Cup. If he were to move to a club on loan though, he’d be guaranteed minutes – with Liverpool implementing a policy where loanees must start 75% of available fixtures.
