(Video) Mignolet’s silly blunder costs Liverpool match v Roma

We really hate writing headlines like this, but sadly got pretty used to them last season.

A mistake during the summer fixtures doesn’t essentially matter, in truth. The 2-1 loss against Roma is irrelevant, but if Simon Mignolet begins the campaign making this kind of error, we’ve got a serious problem.

Loris Karius has broken his hand and will miss the beginning of term, meaning the Belgian is a certainty to start between the sticks.

With the game poised at 1-1, Mignolet made a close range save, but failed to deal with the ball afterwards – enabling Mohamed Salah to tap in from close-range.

In the six yard box, the ball is his responsibility. End of.
