James Milner has gone off injured in our friendly against Barcelona this evening.

He was replaced by Alberto Moreno a few minutes before the break and headed straight down the tunnel.

He had started the game at left-back, suggesting he might have been given the place against Arsenal next weekend, but those plans could now be in jeopardy.

Depending on the severity of the knock, the calls for a new full-back will become even louder. We’ve just allowed both Jon Flanagan and Connor Randall to go out on loan to Burnley and Wigan respectively.

We now only have two full-backs at the club: Nathaniel Clyne and the aforementioned Moreno. Milner was presumed to be our “plan B”.

The fact that one player picking up an injury throws our full-back situation into chaos only serves to highlight how woefully understaffed we are in those positions.

Surely Klopp needs to dip into the market one last time?
