Jurgen Klopp has said Milner’s injury “doesn’t look good” in the aftermath of our 4-0 win over Barcelona tonight.

Milner, who started the game at left-back, was replaced by Alberto Moreno just before half-time. He went straight down the tunnel for treatment.

When asked about the injury in his post-match press conference, he said we’d have to wait for a scan before knowing the full extent of the problem:

“It doesn’t look too good. He needs a scan and then we will know more,” said the boss.

Given Milner started the game, it seems likely that Klopp was planning to play him in defence next weekend against the Gunners – but it now looks like Moreno will start there instead.

In fairness to the Spaniard, he didn’t have a bad game once he came on, though he did give the ball away a few times.

We might yet see a new left-back arrive before the close of the transfer window in a couple of weeks.
