Benteke’s agent provides interesting transfer update

It looks like the Christian Benteke transfer saga will run and run, with no offers currently on the table for the out of favour Belgian forward.

Liverpool signed the 25-year-old last summer for £32.5m, but he was unable to adapt to Jurgen Klopp’s style and demands, and has been put up for sale a result.

Crystal Palace had a £25m bid rejected earlier in the summer and the likes of West Ham, Everton and Besiktas have been linked – but Benteke’s agent Eris Kismet said no transfer is imminent.

“We are waiting for any news but at this moment there is nothing concrete,” he told the Guardian. “There are several teams interested in signing him so hopefully we can reach a resolution soon.”

Benteke hasn’t played a single minute during pre-season and Jurgen Klopp has admitted he wants to sell the striker, so hopefully something can be done – and for good money.

Liverpool have spent upwards of £70m this summer, but if we recoup most/all the money we spent on Benteke – we will have broken even – making for an excellent window financially.

If Klopp wants to buy a new left-back the money is there to do it, but he’s so far rejected that opportunity – meaning we may start the campaign with Alberto Moreno and James Milner as the options for this position.
