The Reds are back in action with their opening Premier League game as they take on Arsenal at the Emirates, and there’s plenty of incentive as Paddy Power announce they are enhancing the odds on the Liverpool win from a lowly 2/1 to a mouth watering 12/1.
The offer has already seen plenty of interest from Liverpool fans and punters who are optimistic the Reds can get off to a flyer against Arsene Wenger’s side. Arsenal’s defence will be the focus on Sunday as the Gunners kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Liverpool.
Last season runners-up will be missing a number of key defenders with Gabriel, Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny all missing. Calum Chambers and new boy Rob Holding have been tipped to start in defence although other reports indicate that Francis Coquelin could line out in an unfamiliar role.
The makeshift backline will have their work cut out against a lively Liverpool attack that will include new man, Sadio Mane.
Another interesting battle could be between two of the new men on show.
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka arrived with a growing reputation. The Swiss midfielder is a combative midfielder that should add some steel to the middle of the field.
He will come up against Reds new boy Gini Wijnaldum.
The former Newcastle man scored 11 goals last season and his late arrivals into the box will give Liverpool another dimension to their attack.
Wijnaldum will more than likely line up alongside Emre Can and Jordan Henderson in a 3 man midfield with Roberto Firmino, Mane and Phillipe Coutinho in the forward line.
A third signing, Ragnar Klavan will start alongside Dejan Lovren in defence while the likes of Lucas, Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez will miss out.
Daniel Sturridge and James Milner are also unlikely to feature as they recover from injury although there is talk that Sturridge could be on the bench after he trained midweek.
Liverpool have been a mixed bag in pre-season, although the Reds can take plenty of positives over their triumphs over AC Milan and Barcelona showcasing all that is good about Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Arsenal meanwhile went unbeaten, finalising their preparations for the new season with a 3-2 win over Manchester City, but with question marks over their Arsenal back four, now looks a perfect opportunity to get on the Liverpool win at 12/1.

The same bookmaker is also offering odds on which player will score the most goals for the Reds this season. The favourite is 6/4 on Daniel Sturridge to be Liverpool’s top goalscorer, but there could be plenty of value in backing Roberto Firmino at a value dripping price of 6/1.
Elsewhere there’s 11/8 on Liverpool to finish in the top 4.
