Let’s be honest, we weren’t at the races for large parts of that first half; Arsenal could – and should – have been out of sight.
But, as the old saying goes, it only takes a second to score a goal.
And boy was it a goal worth waiting for. Phil Coutinho had been mostly anonymous in the opening 45 – but he stepped up when it matter to curl home an incredible 25/30-yard free-kick.
It was majestical.
He seems to have a habit of scoring stunning opening day goals after his late heroics against Stoke last season.

Twitter went bananas as the ball hit the net – but is this the best and most descriptive tweet of the lot?
Attempting to save the Coutinho freekick won’t leave even the most enigmatic keeper unscathed. So perfectly executed with guile & precision.
