Liverpool in negotiations with Valencia for swap-deal involving Luis Alberto; Arsenal rocked

Ok, so this is a transfer rumour we were not expecting to rear its head…

Respected Spanish publication Cadena Ser, who run radio station Ser Deportivos Valencia, claim we’re negotiating with the Spanish club regarding an intriguing swap deal.

We want German central defender Shkodran Mustafi, and will pay money and give them our Spanish playmaker Luis Alberto in exchange according to their report.

We were linked with Mustafi earlier in the summer, but signed Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip instead, securing the centre of our defence.

Liverpool also have Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and youngster Joe Gomez – not to mention Tiago Ilori and Andre Wisdom still on the books – making this rumour very difficult to believe.

While every Liverpool fan on earth knows we need a left-back, most believed we were well stocked in the middle of defence.

Having said that, it’d be worth pursuing this deal just to see the look on the faces of Arsenal fans, with Gunners crying out for enforcements in this spot having deployed Calum Chambers and Rob Holding there against us and conceding four goals!

Alberto will surely be sold, but we’ll believe this one when we see it – regardless of the fact Cadena Ser are a trusted source. It just doesn’t make sense.
