Wilson brace fires U23s to impressive win over Odense senior side

Harry Wilson bagged two goals as our U23 side beat Danish Superliga side Odense 2-1.

Odense fielded their first eleven and are currently unbeaten after five league matches this season – making it an impressive win for Michael Beale’s young squad.

The opening goal came via the penalty spot. Ben Woodburn was brought tumbling to the ground and Wilson made no mistake from 12 yards.

Woodburn was again involved in the second, as his pass to Brooks Lennon ultimately led to Wilson’s six-yard tap-in.

Odense got themselves back in it with 15 minutes to go, but the youngsters held on.

“It was an excellent performance against Odense’s first team,” said Beale.

“They are unbeaten this season in the Danish Superliga and therefore this is a nice win and a confidence boost for the players after a disappointing game at the weekend against Southampton.”

“Overall it has been a fantastic trip and I would like to again thank Hans Moller and his organisation for inviting us to Denmark for the third year running.” (via official site).

Liverpool U23s XI: Kelleher, Whelan, Juanma (Garton 80), N Phillips, Maguire (Lewis 70), Virtue, Wilson, Williams (A Phillips 60), Lennon, Hart, Woodburn (Camacho 70).
