Sheyi Ojo will be out until mid-September due to an issue with his back that now needs a prolonged period of rest, the Echo reports.

The 19-year-old wonderkid winger excelled when called upon during the summer friendlies, but this injury means he feature for at least four weeks and is unlikely to move on loan, either.

James Pearce writes that there wasn’t a particular incident that caused Ojo’s injury, but an extended period of high workload which has now caused him a problem.

For a teenager, this is slightly worrying, and we’re sure Ojo’s physical schedule will be tapered down when he returns to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

Ojo has bags of talent, but what sets him apart from his peers is his physicality, as he possesses enormous speed and strength – so it’s imperative that his fitness is sorted out as a priority.

At 19 he’s still growing too, so the heavy workload combined with this might have helped cause the back issue.
