Klopp queries Moreno criticism – can’t believe “the world isn’t satisfied”

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about under-fire left-back Alberto Moreno in his press conference today.

After his questionable performance against Arsenal, he was inevitably asked about the Spanish full-back ahead of our trip to Burnley.

And he took no time in leaping to the 24-year-old’s defence.

“I don’t really understand what we are talking about,” said the boss. “Are we talking about Moreno because he didn’t defend too well against Arsenal?

“I should maybe read more newspapers, I’ve no idea what we are talking about. The world is not satisfied with our left-back?” (via Echo).

He then seemed to suggest Moreno could have done better when he gave away the penalty, but refused to advance his criticisms any further.

“Alberto was involved in the penalty situation, so that’s something of course we spoke about (at half-time).

“We spoke about how we can defend together differently because in my opinion we could have avoided a situation like this five or six times before the penalty.

“Then Alberto could have done better, that’s right, but that is all.”
