Liverpool linked with outrageous move for James Rodriguez in Spanish double-page spread

We can’t wait for the transfer window to ‘slam shut’, as Sky Sports metaphorically describes…

By the end of August it really begins to drag, with nonsensical rumours circulating faster and faster until the climax, or usually anti-climax, of deadline day.

Still, it doesn’t stop us occasionally taking a peep at the latest exotic rumour. It’s like reading a comic strip – we know it’s pretend – but still quite fun to ‘imagine’!

This one today is truly absurd, but it appears on a double page spread regarding Colombian superstar James Rodriguez’s Real Madrid future in spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo. The Echo have reported it in their transfer round-up.

They claim that Liverpool want and have expressed a significant interest in the supremely talented playmaker , who for whatever reason – has fallen out of favour with Zinedine Zidane. Of course, they caveat this by saying it’s unlikely we could pay the required mammoth fee.

We think we actually probably could having made money this window , but won’t. It’s not Jurgen Klopp’s style and we’ve already a number of excellent attacking midfielders. This story has been conjured from thin air. And who needs Rodriguez when you’ve Coutinho and Sadio Mane!
