Liverpool won’t be signing that left-back we probably need, the centre-back who would be nice or that top notch holding midfielder either!
We probably knew as much already, but it’s been pretty much confirmed by respected Telegraph journalist Chris Bascombe via Twitter.
Aware this is rather like reporting how Santa’s unlikely to be making visit on Xmas Eve but… all indications from LFC remain no ‘ins’ today.

Instead, today will be about offloading the remaining deadwood, with Luis Alberto, Mario Balotelli and Andre Wisdom expected to leave either permanently or on loan.
Interestingly, Mamadou Sakho has chosen to stay at the club, against the manager’s wishes.
As expected, Jurgen Klopp got his business done early this summer, bringing in the likes of Loris Karius, Joel Matip, Marko Grujic, Sadio Mane, Ragnar Klavan and Gini Wijnaldum before the Premier League season began – so as to give them time to adapt to his methods and gel with new team-mates.
Liverpool fans are mostly pleased with the arrivals, especially Mane who’s proving a superb buy, but there are gaps in the squad that haven’t been filled.
Still, it’s Klopp’s ability to get the best out of players and improve them on the training ground that made him so attractive in the first place, so now it’s time for us to trust his chosen squad.
