Loris Karius today had the wires taken out of the hand he broke during pre-season, in his bid to recover and challenge Simon Mignolet for the spot between Liverpool’s sticks.

The German keeper, signed from Mainz at the start of summer, posted the news on his Twitter page, with Melissa Reddy in Goal claiming he’ll be back in roughly three weeks’ time.

The 23-year-old did excellently over the summer until his clash with Dejan Lovren saw him sidelined, and it’ll be interesting to see at what point Jurgen Klopp throws him in.
Mignolet has actually done fairly well in our opinion – and cannot be blamed for any goals conceded so far – despite the fact we’ve actually let in six in four matches.
Provided Karius’s mere presence improves the Belgian and forces him to keep up this level, the signing is working, although we think the younger German is truly Liverpool’s long-term option between the posts.
