Liverpool loanee runs riot – scores a hat-trick and grabs two assists on his debut

Posted by

Young striker Taiwo Awoniyi scored a hat-trick and supplied two assists on his debut as Nijmegen beat FC Kleve 5-0 in a friendly on Thursday.

He only officially joined the club last weekend on a season-long loan deal.

According to Nijmegen’s official site, he scored twice in the first half and added a further goal after the break.

It must be noted that FC Kleve play in the sixth tier of the German pyramid, so they aren’t exactly quality opposition – but nonetheless the 19-year-old Nigerian will be more than happy with how he equipped himself on his first showing in front of a new set of fans.

His first real test will come this weekend as they welcome Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven to their 13,000 capacity Goffertstadion in the east of the country.

After four games NEC are 12th in the Eredivisie, with one win and five points from their games so far.
