(Video) Wijnaldum scores hilariously fortuitous goal for The Netherlands, but they still lose to Greece

Posted by

The Netherlands’ shocking international demise continued tonight as they were beaten 2-1 by Greece in Eindhoven.

The Dutch failed to qualify for the Euros in France, and while many fans might have hoped it was a temporary blip, it’s in danger of becoming a permanent crisis.

Most Liverpool fans probably won’t care about the game other than for one fact – Gini Wijnaldum scored the only goal of the game for the Dutch.

The goal came after just 14 minutes and put the hosts 1-0 ahead. However, sadly it really wasn’t a goal for the ages – rather, it was incredibly lucky.

Spurs’ new signing Vincent Janssen picked out our man in the centre, and the ball was part bundled, part kicked, and part deflected into the back of the net (via Goal).

The lead lasted until the 29th minute when Kostas Mitroglou powered home a free header, and Greece won it with 15 minutes to go as Giannis Gianniotas lashed in.
