Premier League clubs spent more than £1billion over the summer transfer season, but who got whom?
Here is a look at some of the transfers that took place in the big named clubs.
Man United’s major in’s include Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba.
Their major outs included Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Nick Powell, Donald Love, Victor Valdes, Guillermo Varela, Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair, Will Keane and Adnan Januzaj.
Man United did have a great summer and had an approach of quality over quantity during the summer transfer window.
Jose Mourinho saw that four positions needed reinforcement so he managed to get top players for all positions. Man United look like they will be a challenge this season after they had a few rough years.
The major ins’ for Man City included Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ilkay Gundogan, Marlos Moreno, Leroy Sane, John Stones, Gabriel Jesus, Nolito and Claudio Bravo.
Their major outs included Wilfried Bony, Martin Demichelis, Joe Hart, Marlos Moreno, Jason Denayer, Samir Nasri and Eliaquim Mangala.
Man City certainly splashed the cash this summer and brought in established stars and promising young footballers.
An instant impact came from Nolito and when Illkay Gundogan returns from injury he is sure to be the player to watch on the side. City also secured two of the biggest emerging talents, Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane.
The major in’s at Leicester were Nampalys Mendy, Luis Hernandez, Ron-Robert Zieler, Bartosz Kapustka, Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani.
The major outs were Mark Schwarzer, Andrej Kramaric, Liam Moore, Ritchie De Laet, Paul Konchesky, N’Golo Kante, Gokhan Inler and Dean Hammond.
Most of the players that were chosen for Leicester appear to be a calculated gamble because they didn’t cost much but look like they will work nicely.
The major in’s for Liverpool were Loris Karius, Alex Manninger, Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, Georginio Wijnaldum and Ragnar Klavan.
The major outs for the team were Adam Bogdan, Kolo Toure, Jerome Sinclair, Mario Balotelli, Jose Enrique, Christian Benteke, Jordan Rossiter, Joe Allen, Jordon Ibe, Brad Smith, Martin Skrtel, Lazar Markovic, Jon Flanagan and Luis Alberto.
In the Jurgen Klopp system, Wijnaldum and Mane look like they will be key players and Matip and Karius should also be good.
There were a lot of players being shifted in Leicester and this could be the next stage in the Klopp system, so next summer we shall probably see even more spending by this team.
Major in’s for the Chelsea team included David Luiz, N’Golo Kante, Michy Batshuayi, Marcos Alonso and Eduardo.
The major outs were Danilo Pantic, Kenedy, Tomas Kalas, Nathan Ake, Lucas Piazon, Bertrand Traore, Juan Cuadrado, Patrick Bamford, Mohamed Salah, Christian Atsu and Loic Remy.
Long-standing issues were solved with the additions of Batshuayi and Kante. Batshuayi will provide competition up front whilst Kante will do the work that no one else seemed to last term.
However, Chelsea was not able to lure Leonardo Bonucci and ended up paying a good lot of money for Alonso. They also made the decision to bring back David Luiz, which is probably one of the most surprising deals of the transfer.
With the summer transfer season closed, it is time for some amazing football and for the teams to see if they made the right decisions and bought the right players.
