Digne moved to Barcelona from PSG this window just gone, and has already impressed. He’s very attacking, so fits right into their ethos – as he spends more time by the opposition penalty area than he does at the back.

“PSG already had an offer from a good English team but when we got in touch with the manager told us that the player only wanted to come to Barcelona,” Fernandez said.

“And negotiating with PSG was not particularly difficult because they had already begun to negotiate with another team.”

Chelsea signed Marcos Alonso, an attacking left-back, on deadline day – so we’d suggest the Londoners might’ve been the potential suitor rather than ourselves…

As it is, we’re going with James Milner as first-choice with Alberto Moreno as backup. Those crying out for a new left-back have quietly ignored the fact Milner has been good so far this term in the position.

A natural left-back as insurance would have been nice, but Jurgen Klopp’s opinion is more important than ours – and we think fans may change their view come the end of the campaign…
